Special Diet and Poverty

If we ended poverty tomorrow which could be done with the stroke of a pen by the various levels of government (it is not as complex as we are led to believe)...where would all the displaced employed people go...as their services would no longer be required.

Much like the auto industry, we cannot have all these people unemployed hence the bail out...

Therefore, I understand what the thread of discussion is...I have never had a lawyer in poverty law take on a case for me..On the other hand, those I know personally have experienced the same...we for the most part have been forced to do for ourselves in many areas...and get kicked down one more time for attempting to escape the poverty class and I don`t belong here …but due to circumstances beyond my control here I sit..and without a family doctor or a doctor willing to fill out forms a person is caught on OW and expected to meet all the qualifiers for a meager existence.

How can anyone ever think that to remove a child from the monetary benefit was/is a good thing?

It’s a reduction of money to the family and it’s not poverty reduction…

Community start-up once in a 24 month period is another reduction that someone thought was good but not for the poverty class

Ending a centralized provincial dental program was a mistake, as many communities no longer provide dental services and that creates antibiotic resistant bacteria and C difficile and MRSA that will affect everyone in a given area regardless of class…

Clawing back half of a person’s wages really means they are working for less than minimum wage and again it is of no benefit to the poverty class as one never earns enough to break free of the system and where does the money go anyway!!

Bill 22 taking away the right to unionize has dropped off the table altogether and no regard for persons forced into workfare with no protection

The back to school allowance or winter clothing is this too a good policy to reduce poverty…

Total up all the cuts to the poverty class and it only gets worse not better ..

You are innocent till proven poor

On averages people lose their employment are on OW for a short period of time and are able to access services to find gainful employment...the ones who are on it for an extended period of time are people that should be on ODSP. They struggle with many problems/ issues that will disable them from ever finding and keeping employment that provides a living wage...

Most often, the ones who claim to fight for change is of ill benefit to those living in abject poverty.

Policy- makers never include or ask the poverty class what can be done to "fix it" except for tokenism and often if a poor person does have a good idea or thought it is capitalized by the ruling class above

The rules and regulations is used as a weapon that effectively silences people …. it is reprisal and it is barbaric treatment of the poverty class when you create fear, uncertainty, high stress, withhold medical treatment ,near starvation ,reduce economics ,homelessness and all the other factors that go with poverty is that a civil society?

What kind of message is it sending to the young child raised in this environment?

We are all on some kind of budget and CEOS are spending your money now that’s a breach of public trust social deviants exist in every sector regardless of class or social standing.. If all the volunteers stopped, volunteering what would our civil society look like and who would sell the programs to the people…Now I just volunteered my time to this group by writing my thoughts to share with whoever reads this list serve material.

Did anyone follow the link and read the article on malnutrition and so the people at the top know what poverty does and it has gotten worse at least in this area..

A legal system is only as good as the money in your pocket and the knowledge in your head..I have to quit using spell check and redial

Change the culture, change the mindset, change the people

No Universal Healthcare In Canada

On one hand the system spouts prevention but on the other it states abuse….and that is how the bureaucracy works it is based on inefficiency for the people but efficiency unto themselves to ensure their survival and secure wealth for themselves and their offspring…it`s about power and control ..Same old same old… Preventive care and early detection are considered important and yearly checkups are encouraged. Early detection not only extends life expectancy and quality of life, but also cuts down overall costs. (Government) GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA Those suspected of abusing the system by over-frequent or frivolous use is tracked by the physicians/hospitals through the central database accessed by the health card number. These patients have to endure longer wait times as a disincentive and others treated before them will be considered more urgent. (Government) A little note is placed by the patients name in the system. (red-flagged) and the problem  is as follows: • who determines a...

Another View Point On the Special Diet in Ontario

Your Media Release appears to be about accountability and transparency with income and expenses; we endorse the concept; a concept that is not widely promoted within social sectors within society on a social or economic level.  One of our concerns is the extent of accountability and transparency, which may lead to micromanagement by complaint or cultural perception, autonomy and independence in decision-making, may be in jeopardy. There are the issues of client confidentiality, which may be an issue. In having conversations with individuals isolated from each other in the Poverty Class, many are interested in becoming a member, one constant question keeps arising; the question is who is going to protect our identity? Which is not an unfounded question; as people who have stood up against Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program have came under severe attack by the system Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program, we have more than enough documents to sup...
